Taking place in Japan and Switzerland, 'Sommererwachen' tells the story of a high school graduate, who travels to Japan to find his former girlfriend. A film that shows how two young people, a Swiss and a Japanese, love, argue and miss each other. It is a film about longings, about misunderstandings and being alone. Looking for his love throughout Japan, the main character David develops personally.
Realised as part of a graduation project at the Kantonsschule Stadelhofen, Zurich, 2011.

'Sommererwachen' tells the story of David, a high school graduate, whose gap year is about to end. Apparently spontaneous he decides to use his remaining time to travel the globe with a friend. Apparently spontaneous they choose Japan as destination. Soon we learn that David has a very specific goal in mind: he is looking for Aiko, his great love, who, after spending several weeks with him in Switzerland, returned to her home country. The fact that David won't be receiving any answer to his demands will eventually be the slightest hurdle on his way to find happiness.
